Trinity Methodist hires pastor
Trinity United Methodist Church, 1725 E. Bridgeport, will welcome a new pastor, the Rev. Christie Newbill, with an ice cream social Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
The church also has a new service time of 9 a.m. Sundays.

Special service
St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall, will celebrate Celtic Eucharist Aug. 14 at 7 p.m.
The service will include contemporary chants, dance and discussion and its theme is “In the Image of God: Male and Female.”
A reception will follow the service.

Vacation Bible School
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 1832 W. Dean, will present “Loving God, Loving Others,” a Vacation Bible School for kids ages 4 through 10.
From Aug. 18 through 22, kids will get a healthy breakfast from 8:30 to 9:10 a.m. before the activities begin at 9:15 a.m.
The kids will hear Bible stories, sing songs, play games, make crafts and have snacks before parents pick them up at 11:45 a.m., or the kids can walk to Holmes Elementary School for lunch.
The program is free, but in order to plan for the program there will be a registration barbecue Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the church.

Yard sale
Mead United Methodist Church, 12611 N. Wilson, will present a yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The sale will include coffee, baked goods, snacks and a barbecued hot dog lunch.

Singles groups
Spokane Christian Singles will host speed dating events Saturday and Sunday at Colbert Presbyterian Church, 4211 E. Colbert Road.
Singles from 20 to 50 years old will meet at the church at 7 p.m. Saturday. Singles 45 years and older will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The cost is $10 for your first visit and $7 for any speed dating event after that.
