Valleyfest draws familiar performers

Some familiar names are scheduled to perform at this year’s Valleyfest in Mirabeau Park on Sept. 20.

Soul and blues singer Curtis Salgado will perform a free concert from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place. Salgado helped inspire the Blues Brothers on Saturday Night Live, created by John Belushi.

Before Salgado takes the stage, however, there will be a performance by 2007 Gimme the Mike winner Nicole Lewis. She competed against 400 singers for the title in the contest sponsored by the Northern Quest Casino. She will perform at CenterPlace from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 20.
