Week in review
Fairfield City Council – Council members heard an update on the community center renovation. They approved projects to do some acoustic work downstairs and to fix the leaking roof. The town will apply for a grant to replace the aging, inefficient furnace. The town will also be applying for grants to fund sidewalks and arterial work. A two-year audit is under way. Rockford City Council – Council passed a resolution to place a one year levy on the November ballot for the Fire Department. The levy would cost 55 cents per $1,000 in assessed home value and raise $10,000. (Source: Town Clerk)
Fire District 8 – The chief presented information on the 2009 budget, including the addition of ALS service and reorganizing the agency from four to three divisions. Staff is reviewing bids for SUVs. The district is interviewing 16 people who passed the paramedic/firefighter exam. (Source: Administrative assistant Carol Trescott)
