New uses for honey bears

By JoAnn Derson King Features Syndicate

Now Here’s a Tip

• Have you ever broken a light bulb while trying to remove it? Here’s an easy way to remove the end of the bulb without cutting yourself. Grab a regular white potato and cut it in half. Wipe any excess moisture and jam it into the broken glass of the remnants. Then twist. It really works!

• A fun end-of-the-summer tip: “My kids love to play outdoors in the water. We fill a small plastic pool and splash about, but we upped the fun a few weeks ago by accident. I had two empty, clean honey bear containers (plastic jars shaped like bears, with a pointy spout screw-on cap) in the recycling, and the kids found them, filled them with water, and squirted away. They are fairly easy for even the young one to unscrew and refill, so they had lots of fun squirting each other, the house, etc.” — I.D. in Maine

• Turn two sheets into a comfy duvet cover by stitching on three sides, then adding hook-and-loop tape or buttons to the fourth side. Stuff with a comforter and enjoy!
