Hospital collecting toys for patients
Holy Family Hospital, 5633 N. Lidgerwood St., will collect new and gently used stuffed animals on Saturday for children who are taken to the emergency room to receive treatment for trauma or to undergo painful tests.
The donated teddy bears and other animals will also give comfort to adult oncology patients.
Donations can be dropped off at any hospital entrance between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and will be taken to COPS Northeast, 5208 N. Market St. in Hillyard, for distribution. COPS NE also delivers the donated toys to police officers to give to children who have been in fires, experienced violence or neglect, or have been in other types of accidents.
Donations also can be made to COPS NE throughout the year.

Golf to help Spokane Guild
The 17th annual Wendy’s Classic Golf Tournament will be Sept. 15 at Spokane Country Club, 2010 W. Waikiki Road. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
The two-person 18 hole best ball tournament includes of lunch, dinner, prizes, and an auction. Items available in the auction are a two-person spot in the Lexus Champions for Charity tournament in Pebble Beach and a one-week stay with three rounds of golf in New Zealand.
The cost is $250 per person.
All proceeds benefit children with disabilities at the Spokane Guilds’ School & Neuromuscular Center.

Donate hair for Wigs for Kids
Monique’s Salon, 12016 E. Sprague Ave., is collecting funds and hair donations during September to support Alopecia Awareness Month.
Monique’s goal is to raise $5,000 and collect 150 hair donations for Wigs for Kids.
On Sept. 20, Monique’s will host a Cut-A-Thon from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Arts festival this Saturday
One World Spokane will present the Keystone International Arts Festival Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the corner of Pittsburg and Sprague Avenue.
The day will include artisans, musicians, food vendors and handcrafts.
The founder of One World Everybody Eats in Salt Lake City, Denise Cerreta, will discuss plans for the One World Spokane Organic Community Kitchen that will open soon at 1804 E. Sprague Ave., and the Organic Community Garden on First Avenue.
The event will also include the Inland Northwest Boxing Association’s Sanctioned Outdoor Boxing Showcase from 4 to 8 p.m.
