Scout Troop 423 held a Court of Honor recently to confer the rank of Eagle Scout on three brothers: Tyler, Troy and Tate Murphey.

The boys are the sons of Russ and Debbie Murphey of Spokane Valley.

Each of the Eagle Scout projects included designing and building a wood structure, applying for donations from local building supply stores and providing a needed service to the community.

Tyler Murphey designed and built a high-tech secure cabinet for the media center equipment for his church.

Troy Murphey redesigned an unused storeroom and built shelves to turn the room into a food bank. He completed the initial food drive to stock the shelves and got the food bank up and running for Mid-City Concerns Senior Center.

Tate Murphey designed and built a sturdy, weather-proof kiosk for the Liberty Lake equestrian trail. The kiosk provides a permanent display for trail maps and notices.

Tyler graduated from Central Valley High School in 2007 and is a student at Brigham Young University. Troy and Tate attend Central Valley High School.

Trenton Murphey, the boys’ older brother, also is an Eagle Scout and a BYU student.
