Scoop contest winners named

Nearly 100 eagle-eyed kids from across the region quickly spotted Scoop Reporter hiding among advertisements in last week’s Voices and called the newspaper. The first seven who spoke with contest master Marsha Ovnicek will win free ice cream and an official Reporter’s Notebook and are this week’s Honorary Cub Reporters.

Congratulations to:

•Kathryn Munro, 11, who attends Greenacres Middle School and is the daughter of Jeff Munro. She spotted Scoop on page 8 of last Thursday’s Valley Voice.

•Abby Marshall, age 8, who attends Wilson Elementary and whose parent is Maisie Bauer. She found Scoop hiding on page 6 of the South Side Voice.

•Andrew Johnson, 8, a Ridgeview Elementary School student whose grandmother is Carla Brown and dad is Shawn Johnson. Andrew discovered Scoop on page 13 of the North Side Voice.

•Aspen Tichey, 11, a Windsor Elementary School student whose parent is Adam Tichey. She uncovered Scoop on page 9 of the West Plains Voice

•Kate McCloud, 6, who attends Lutheran Academy of the Master in Coeur d’Alene and whose parent is Laura McCloud. Kate spotted Scoop on page 8 of the Prairie Voice.

East Valley

EVSD plans open house

The East Valley School District will host a community meeting to discuss a school modernization bond at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at East Valley High School, 15711 E. Wellesley Ave.

The hour-long meeting is open to the public. The district tried to pass a $33 million bond two times this year that failed to bring more than 56 percent approval – short of the 60 percent super majority required for passage. The proposed bonds would have paid to modernize East Valley Middle School, Mountain View Middle School and Otis Orchards Elementary, as well as pay for security improvements at the district’s elementary schools.
