City celebrates Winterfest

The Winterfest Community Celebration will be Friday at Post Falls City Hall, 408 Spokane St., from 6 to 8 p.m.

The festivities will begin with the tree-lighting ceremony and lighting of the City Hall plaza, followed by old-fashioned caroling by local choir groups.

Winterfest will begin the annual Holiday Giving Tree campaign. Nonperishable food items, unwrapped new toys, blankets and used coats would be appreciated to donate to the local food bank for the community holiday needs.

City accepting applications

The city of Post Falls is currently accepting applications for the City Historic Preservation Commission.

Applications are available at the Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 408 N. Spokane St. and on online at www.postfallsidaho.org/ commissions.htm.

Application forms can be delivered or mailed to: Office of the Mayor, City of Post Falls, 408 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, ID 83854.

The deadline for submitting an application is Friday at 5 p.m.

Party benefits Dachshund rescue

Start celebrating the holidays early and help save homeless wiener dogs at the Holiday Wienerfest Party to benefit Dachshund Rescue Northwest at the Lilac City Dog Training Club, 1612 E Houston Ave., on Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Canine festivities include bobbing for hot dogs and a holiday costume contest.

Cost is $5 per person and a favorite potluck dish. Please bring plates to serve the food on.

A current list of adoptable dogs can be found at www.drnw.petfinder.com. All dogs are fixed or will be fixed before placement, and are up to date on their shots. Adoptable dogs are shorthaired unless otherwise noted.

Grand opening Friday at Embyrs

Embyrs, a local clothing line in Coeur d’Alene, will have a grand opening for a new store Embyrs Abode on Friday. The store, 1401 E. Best Ave., will open at 10 a.m.

The opening will include specials all day and An Dochas, a Celtic/World music band will perform at 6 p.m.

Local artists’ work featured at show

Rathdrum’s first annual art show will be held Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 8052 Main St.

Local artists will be showing and selling their works and demonstrating their talent.

Bayview

BAB hosting annual bazaar

The Bayview Community Center in Bayview is hosting the BAB Women’s Club annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event will feature all-you-can-eat homemade soups, salad and rolls, and a silent auction.

Homemade baked goods will be for sale and theme baskets will be raffled off. Tickets for a handmade quilt will also be for sale. The drawing will be Tuesday.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 7 and younger.

Proceeds from the Bazaar will benefit the ABC Food Bank, the North Idaho College Scholarship, Athol Elementary School Library, and Girls State Scholarship.
