Police arrest man on DUI warrants

Nina Culver

Criminals apparently took Thanksgiving off, leaving Liberty Lake police officers a light load for the week of Nov. 24 to Dec. 1. There were no felony drug arrests and only a handful of people were arrested on misdemeanor charges.

A Liberty Lake man was arrested Nov. 24 after police discovered he was wanted on warrants for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. Another Liberty Lake man was arrested the same day on the same charges. Two other men were also arrested for driving with suspended licenses.

Several landscaping lights near Half Moon Park were broken during the week, but police were unable to find those responsible. “A pedestrian flagged down one of our officers and said he saw some kids kicking the lights,” said Police Chief Brian Asmus.

Citations issued during the week include two for license and plates required, six for failure to show liability insurance, five for speeding and six for failure to wear a safety belt. Additional citations were given for driving without lights when required, defective muffler, failure to stop at a stop sign and improper signal.

Police responded for calls for an animal problem, malicious mischief, an attempted suicide and an accident at Harvard and Mission.
