Skyline edges Issaquah
Jake Heaps threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns as Skyline beat Issaquah 20-15 Friday night in the State 4A Washington state high school football championship game at the Tacoma Dome.
Heaps led Skyline (14-0) on a go-ahead drive with just more than 3 minutes to play that culminated in a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jake Knecht. Skyline won the 3A title last year.
Ryan Somers then intercepted a Joey Bradley pass on Issaquah’s next drive and held off a last-ditch effort by Issaquah (11-3).

Napavine 28, Asotin 24: Also at the Tacoma Dome, Marty Cozart lobbed a 40-yard pass to Matthew Waltenberg, who ran it in for the winning touchdown with just 19 seconds left, as the Tigers (12-2) defeated the Panthers (12-2) for the title.
Asotin had taken a 24-21 lead less than a minute earlier when Creighton Alford scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak.
Waltenberg wrestled the jump ball away from Asotin cornerback Cole Caldwell and broke free for the go-ahead score.
After falling behind 7-0, Asotin scored the next 17 points. A 24-yard TD run by D.J. Darnall and a 12-yard TD pass from Alford to Zane Earl gave Asotin a 17-7 advantage.
Alford was 9 of 22 for 117 yards and one TD. Darnall led Asotin in rushing with 37 yards on eight carries and one TD.
Alford led Asotin on a six-play, 68-yard drive for its go-ahead score. Alford connected with Caldwell for 39 yards to get into Napavine territory. He then found Earl for 17 yards down to the Napavine 1-yard line before scoring on the sneak.
The victory produced the first state championship for Napavine.
