Parking meters popular with shoppers
Response to the city of Spokane’s sale of its outdated parking meters has been so great that the street department is backlogged filling orders, a city spokeswoman said today.
Call the street department before driving there in person, city spokeswoman Marlene Feist said in a press release. That number is (509) 232-8800. The department will add your name to a list and call when the meter is ready, Feist said.
The street department began selling its remaining mechanical parking meters for $35 each starting today.
The city said Friday that between 500 and 1,000 meters are left of the 2,800 meters replaced in recent years as the city switched to battery-operated ones.
