Music event planned by NWSM
A Musical Holiday by the Lake will be on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Song Bird Theater, 315 N. Fourth St.
The event, presented by the Northwest Sacred Music Chorale and the theater, will include music by the NWSM Chorale, The Ensemble and 12 other musicians.
The live music will be performed during a five-course gourmet meal, catered by The Green Briar Inn.
Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased at the theater and at Great Harvest Bread Co., at 2106 N. Government Way in Coeur d’Alene.

SNR hosting Christmas party
Specialized Needs Recreation will host the seventh annual Christmas Dinner Party fundraiser today at the Trailhead Pavilion building in the Q’emiln Park in Post Falls, from noon to 2 p.m.
The annual holiday event will include a traditional turkey dinner with all of the trimmings, music, raffles and Santa Claus, too.
The suggested donation is $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more.

Author signing at Plaza Shops
Celebrate the holidays today with the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.
Susan Nipp, the author of the new children’s book “Mudgy & Millie” and Mudgy himself will be at The Coeur d’Alene Plaza Shops, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Sculptor Terry Lee, creator of five “Mudgy & Millie” statues on the Mudgy Trail extending from the Third Street entrance to Tubbs Hill to the library, downtown Coeur d’Alene, the City Park and Independence Point, will be with Nipp while she signs copies of her book. The books also will be on sale.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Coeur d’Alene Public Library Foundation. Nipp and Charles Reasoner, the illustrator of “Mudgy & Millie” have signed over all royalties from the book and related merchandise to the foundation.
At the Library, 702 E. Front Ave., Santa Claus will visit the Shirley Parker Children’s Theater in the Seagraves Children’s Library from noon to 4 p.m. for Santa’s Holiday Book Drive.
Be sure to bring your camera to catch your children on Santa’s lap. Christmas cookies and hot chocolate will be provided in the Craft Room during Santa’s visit.
Santa’s Holiday Book Drive is sponsored by the Friends of the Coeur d’Alene Public Library and the Library Foundation.
And, through Dec. 27, donate nonperishable food for people or pets to Santa’s Pantry: Food for Fines, and your fines will be excused at the library.
Food will be accepted regardless of overdue fines.
The collected donations will be given to the Community Action Partnership Food Bank in Coeur d’Alene and the Kootenai County Humane Society.
Food for Fines cannot be applied to charges for lost or damaged items.

2B entertaining at Lakewood Ranch
The Coeur d’Alene Arts and Culture Alliance is hosting Music for the Wise, musical entertainment for the elderly in assisted living and nursing homes, at Lakewood Ranch, 3755 N. Fourth St. in Coeur d’Alene. The event will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
2B will perform songs by artists such as The Beatles, Neil Young, John Prine, The Dixie Chicks, Brett Dennen, Shawn Mullins, America and Bob Dylan as well as original music. 2B members are Margery Christensen on flute, vocals and Johnny Davis on guitar, vocals and harmonica.
The event is sponsored by Idaho Community Foundation and US Bank.
