City and county offices and the county court system will be closed on Friday.
Mayor Mary Verner said this afternoon that she and County Commissioner Chairwoman Bonnie Mager made the decision after determining that the conditions were unlikely to be much better on Friday because of the unrelenting snowstorm.
Verner said, however, that the city has not cancelled garbage collection on Friday, and that some employees may be asked to work from home, if possible.
Mager, who is snowed in at her home near Cheney, said the county’s decision was made in a vote of county commissioners during an emergency phone meeting.
