North Idaho falls to CSI
Daren Jordan, Art Parakhouski and Joey Shaw all scored 15 points to lead Southern Idaho to a 108-85 Scenic West Athletic Conference men’s basketball victory over North Idaho on Friday night at Twin Falls, Idaho.
Juan Pattillo had 13 points and Nick Hansen chipped in 12 for the Golden Eagles, who outscored the Cardinals 54-34 in the first half.
North Idaho was led by Humberto Perez, who scored a game-high 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting, including 7 of 9 from the 3-point line.
NIC fell to 15-6 and 1-5 in conference play while CSI improved to 21-0 and 6-0.
•Former North Idaho and current Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) coach Hugh Watson will resign following the season, the school announced. Watson spent eight years as head coach at NIC.
Women’s basketball
Soana Lucet scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Maddy Plunkett added 10 points and 10 boards to lead Southern Idaho to a 67-59 win over North Idaho in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Danika Lawson led the Cardinals with 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
NIC fell to 14-6 overall and 3-3 in conference. CSI improved to 20-1 and 6-0.
Track and field
Idaho’s Matt Wauters took second while Russ Winger took third in the men’s 35-pound weight throw at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
Wauters reached a distance of 68 feet, 4 1/2 inches and Winger threw the weight 67-3 1/2. Both were NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
Washington State’s McKenzie Garberg was eighth in the women’s weight throw with a toss of 53-9.25, her lifetime best.
Junior hockey
Dave McIvor, Jordan Reid and Darryl Gagnon scored two goals apiece to lead Fernie (28-14) to a 9-7 KIJHL victory over Spokane in Fernie, B.C.
Jake Peterson and Skyler Smutek each had two goals for the Braves (18-24).
