Men e-mail like Martians …

The Spokesman-Review

Major differences separate the way men and women communicate by e-mail.

A survey commissioned by Google and conducted by Nielsen found that men have less difficulty using e-mail to break off a relationship, and more men than women do just that. Men were also more likely to ask someone out via e-mail, according to the survey. One in three male respondents considered “break-up e-mails” neutral to good etiquette, whereas only one in seven female respondents agreed.

A different survey, commissioned by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, says e-mail has become the No. 1 smoking gun used in divorce proceedings taken to court.

The attorneys surveyed reported that e-mail has become the primary electronic evidence in divorce trials in the United States, followed by a tie between text messaging and Internet browsing history, then GPS data.
