Week in review
Valley Fire – Commissioners discussed storing a truck and emergency trailer for the Department of Emergency Management. They voted to accept the equipment. They approved a switch to financial reporting on a cash basis. They also passed a resolution to spend $2,200 from the crime restitution fund to purchase a camera and a flammable liquid detector. Fire District 13 (Newman Lake) – Commissioners voted to approve the down payment on a new fire and rescue boat being built by Harbor Guard Boats. Chief Rick Cokley, who was with the district for a little over a year, has turned in his resignation. Commissioners voted to authorize hiring a consultant firm to assist with a search for a new chief. (Source: Secretary Rosa Ingram)
Fairfield City Council – A representative from the Liberty School District spoke about the district’s upcoming bond vote. Council members discussed the current discharge limits on phosphorus. The community center project will begin construction soon and the city is still looking for donations. A poll was done on the mosquito spraying program and residents favor the current program. Rockford City Council – Council members passed a resolution endorsing the Spokane County communications tax to upgrade emergency radio equipment. They discussed finding funding for sidewalks and other projects. They also discussed using a wood chipper to dispose of branches and wood debris. (Source: Town clerk)
