Hebrew Scriptures professor will give talk

Country Homes Christian Church, 8415 N. Wall St., will present Linda Schearing, professor of Hebrew Scriptures at Gonzaga University.

Schearing will discuss “Common Ground: Genesis 2-3 and our Ecoshpere” Monday at 6:30 p.m., at the church.

She will also speak about “Imagining the Future: Ecology and the Apocalyptic Vision” Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The Called and Gifted Workshop

St. Francis Xavier and St. Patrick’s parishes will present “The Called and Gifted Workshop” Jan. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Auditorium, 544 E. Providence Ave.

The workshop, led by the Rev. Daniel Barnett and Judy Leach, will discuss the church teaching on the laity, the nature of spiritual gifts and how to discern them.

The deadline to register is Tuesday.
