Titans win gym title
The University High School gymnastics squad secured the Greater Spokane League title with a victory over Shadle Park, North Central and Lewis and Clark Friday night at NC.
The Indians’ Katie Sweatt swept four events and scored a personal best in the all-around at 35.325, but NC, which lost one of their top gymnasts, Nicole Hossfeld, to an ankle injury, took third place behind Shadle. U-Hi scored 161.1 points followed by Shadle (155.775), NC 153.875, and LC (107.725).
Taylor Vold took second in the vault and third in all-around to lead the Titans.
Elsewhere, Taylor Gray won the floor and took second in the all-around as Mead edged Mt. Spokane 165.9-146.9 at Mead. The Wildcats’ Meghan Ballou won the uneven bars, balance beam and all-around.
Districts are Friday at Central Valley.
Wrestling
Great Northern League champ Deer Park won 12 of 14 matches and routed host Cheney 57-9. At 119 pounds, the Stags’ Blake Adams pinned the Blackhawks’ Leonard Hoffman in 36 seconds.
