Sprague-Appleway plan available Friday
The Spokane Valley Planning Commission’s revised version of the Sprague-Appleway Revitalization Plan will be available Friday.
Paper and compact disc copies of the plan, reflecting the commission’s recommendations, will be distributed at City Hall and at the Spokane Valley and Argonne branches of the Spokane County Library District.
City officials said the plan may be downloaded from the city’s Web site, www.spokanevalley.org, or from the plan’s Web site, www.spragueappleway.com.
Planning commissioners adopted the revitalization plan with its major components substantially intact.
It calls for developing a city center at the University City Shopping Center, altering traffic patterns on Sprague Avenue and Appleway Boulevard, and establishing several new zones to encourage redevelopment along the thoroughfares.
Consultants who helped develop the plan will address the City Council in a 6 p.m. study session July 23. The meeting is open to the public, but the council won’t take public testimony until 7 p.m. during its regular meeting on July 29.
The July 23 meeting will be at City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Ave., but the July 29 meeting will be in the Great Room at CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place, so a larger audience can attend.
Although council meetings start at 6 p.m., the public hearing won’t begin until 7. A report on urban growth areas leads the July 29 agenda
