Abuse suspects face new charges
New charges were filed Wednesday against the couple accused of abusing a 3-year-old St. Maries girl nearly to death.
Meanwhile, Kyra Wine has been released from Sacred Heart Medical Center, where she had been hospitalized for nearly a month.
Authorities found Wine on June 17 with dead flesh on her hands and feet, extensive bruising and most of her hair missing.
The girl’s mother, 26-year-old Christina Haynes, and her mother’s boyfriend, 29-year-old Charles William Smith, remain in Benewah County Jail on charges of felony injury of a child. On Wednesday, the couple received an additional felony charge of aggravated battery, documents state.
Kyra underwent multiple surgeries, where doctors removed part of one foot and one of her ring fingers.
Benewah County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Health and Welfare are investigating.

Sex offender living in Spokane
Spokane police are notifying residents of a convicted child molester now living as a transient in Spokane. Keith T. Haynie is not wanted at this time, and will be supervised by the Washington Department of Corrections for the next year.
Haynie, 41, also goes by the name Medicinewolf. He was convicted in 1991 for molesting a 4-year-old girl. After serving six months in jail, Haynie violated the terms of his supervision a dozen times, including being near minors and failing to register as a sex offender.
Haynie is 5-foot-10 and weighs 219 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Coeur d’Alene
Threat forces casino evacuation
Authorities are asking for help finding the woman responsible for phoning in a bomb threat to the Coeur d’Alene Casino on Tuesday night, forcing hundreds of customers to evacuate.
The woman, who police believe is in her late teens or early 20s, called 911 at 11:43 p.m. from a pay phone at the Benewah Market in Plummer and said a bomb would detonate at the casino in 20 minutes.
Tribal police, Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies and bomb-sniffing dogs searched the building and found no explosives.
Guests were taken to the Circling Raven Golf Course next door and allowed back in the casino after about 3 1/2 hours, according to the casino.
The woman who made the threat faces charges of threatening to destroy an occupied building, which is a federal offense, according to a news release.

Two found dead in home fire
A Spokane Valley fire official says two people were found dead when crews responded to a mobile home fire.
Lt. Bill Clifford said smoke and flames were pouring from the mobile home when firefighters arrived Wednesday night.
The two people were found dead inside. They were not immediately identified.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
