CdA District school board seat open
The Coeur d’Alene School District is accepting applications through Aug. 1 for an open school board seat.
The school board plans to interview prospective trustees on Aug. 4 to replace Christie Wood, who resigned July 8.
Anyone interested in applying for the open seat must live in Zone 3, which includes the area west of Highway 95 and Lincoln Way to Atlas Road and north of the Spokane River. The zone also includes an area west of Industrial Park to the district boundary, as well as north to the district’s boundary.

Trustee applicants must submit a letter of interest, a résumé and provide the district with three personal references. The person selected for the trustee seat would serve through July 2009, when the seat goes up for election.
NIC hosting softball skills camp
Space is still available for the North Idaho College’s Cardinal Heat pitching and position play skills camp. The camp will be held July 28 through 31 at Finucane Park, on the northwest corner of Prairie Avenue and Fourth Street in Hayden, and is for players ages 8 to 18.
The camp will be divided into two heats: one for pitching skills and the other will be a position play/offensive heat. The heats will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cost is $200 for the pitchers heat camp and $150 for the position play/offensive heat camp.

Library offers teen info, workshops
The Coeur d’Alene Library, 702 E. Front Ave., recently added a new online link to its Web site for teenagers. “Teen Health & Wellness, Real Life, Real Answers,” will give teens a resource for their concerns and perspective.
The link is designed to provide research support and self-help on topics including diseases, drugs, alcohol, nutrition, fitness, life skills, work readiness, mental health, family life and more.
All content is reviewed by a team of leading professionals across fields including medicine, mental health, nutrition, substance abuse prevention, guidance and career counseling. A list of national hotlines is available for anyone with an urgent need for advice or support.
No library card or password is needed to access the site while in the library. The Web site is available on the library’s database computers. To access the site from a home computer, visit www.cdalibrary.org and click the “Teen Health” link. A link to “Teen Health & Wellness” is also provided through the Post Falls Public Library Web site: postfallslibrary.kcl.org.

•Surfing the Web: Searches on the Internet basic computer workshop will be held at the library next Saturday.
The class will give a basic understanding of how to search the Internet, using search engines, such as Google and Yahoo.
Participants should have basic typing skills. The classes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and preregistration is not required.

Julyamsh Art Show Thursday
The third annual Julyamsh Indian Art Show and Sale, featuring more than 30 artists will be held on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Jacklin Arts and Culture Center at 405 William St. in Post Falls’ historic district.
The evening will include Native Americans dressed in full regalia, music, an art raffle and refreshments. A variety of sculpture, jewelry, paintings and more will be on display for viewing and purchase.
