Man reports robbery, beating
A 25-year-old Spokane man reported being robbed of his wallet as he walked in the area of Trent Avenue and Center Road about 2 a.m. Tuesday, said Spokane Valley Police spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.
The victim told Officer Dale Wells that he was house-sitting his girlfriend’s home in the 2300 block of North Center, and was out walking while he spoke to the out-of-town woman on his cellular phone.
He said a 1970s or ’80s white or light gray Ford pickup pulled alongside him and the driver exited the vehicle and walked up to him. The man punched him in the head while two other men grabbed him from behind.
The three suspects held him to the ground until they got his wallet, and then all three jumped back into the truck and drove away.
Wells noted that the victim had injuries on his head and ribs. The victim said he might have broken a rib during the assault, but declined medical assistance.
He described all three suspects as white males in their late 20s who were about 5-foot-10 and weighed 200 pounds each.
Anyone with information regarding this robbery is encouraged to call the Spokane Valley Police at 242-TIPS.
Teen’s jeans contained meth
A 17-year-old theft suspect told Officer Tanya Walker on Monday night that he had bought his pants from the “friend of a friend” and had no idea how methamphetamine found its way into his pocket.
Walker had been summoned to the Rosauers Grocery at 10618 E. Sprague Ave. about 7 p.m. after a private security officer arrested the Spokane teenager for misdemeanor theft, said Spokane Valley Police spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.
As he searched the suspect in the security office, the Rosauers officer pulled a crumpled envelope from the teen’s pocket. A small baggie of methamphetamine came out with it and fell to the floor.
The teen told Walker that after purchasing the pants from the unnamed seller, he checked the pockets twice to make sure there was nothing in them.
Walker arrested the teen for felony possession of controlled substance and booked him into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
