RiverHawks beat Sox

WENATCHEE – Dustin Willis combined with four relievers on a three-hit shutout to lead the Spokane RiverHawks to an 8-0 West Coast Collegiate Baseball League victory Thursday night over the Wenatchee AppleSox.

Willis went five innings, giving up one hit with seven strikeouts.

Spokane (15-15), playing for the first time in a week because of the All-Star break, started its offensive onslaught early.

Aaron Headrick led off the game with a homer to give Spokane a 1-0 lead.

The RiverHawks would scored four more times in the second inning.

Kyle Krustangel would make it 3-0 with a two-run double and would come around to score on Cody Reeves’ groundout. Eric Renander added a two-run blast and Spokane had a 5-0 lead.

Mark Purser contributed a two-run double in the fifth before scoring the game’s final run on a fielder’s choice in the 8th.

Wenatchee fell to 18-12.
