Several injured in crash on Highway 902

Two cars collided head-on at Highway 902 and Keene Road near Medical Lake just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday, causing serious injuries. The driver of one vehicle, a truck pulling a camper, was arrested for vehicular assault. His name was not immediately released.

The truck was driving west on Highway 902, followed by an unrelated passenger car, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Mark Baker. The truck attempted a left turn in front of an eastbound SUV. The driver of the SUV swerved across the centerline into the westbound lane to avoid the truck and hit the passenger car, Baker said.

There were two adults and three children in the passenger car and an adult and child in the SUV. Baker said he did not have information on their injuries.

The accident was still under investigation Saturday night, with drug recognition experts and a criminal investigative team on scene, said Baker. “They’re treating it as a serious matter,” Baker said. “They will investigate and find out if drugs or alcohol were involved.”
