Clinics teach different strokes to different folks

The Spokane area is blessed with expert paddlers willing to teach techniques in canoeing and kayaking clinics. Following are some of the options:

•The Spokane Canoe & Kayak Club has the area’s most diverse instructional program, which starts next weekend. Get details and preregister for all SCKC clinics by calling Tim Ahern, 244-8851 or e-mail timscanoe@aol.com; www.sckc.ws. Club membership is required.

June 7 – Basic flatwater paddling skills for solo or tandem canoe. Cost: $50.

June 12-13 – Moving water paddling skills for solo or tandem canoe. Cost: $50.

Aug. 2-3 – Sea kayak paddling skills and overnight camping. Cost: $95.

Whitewater kayak course dates to be announced.
