The Spokesman-Review

Rays 2, White Sox 0: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Scott Kazmir won his fifth straight start, allowing three hits in seven innings in East-leading Tampa Bay’s victory over Chicago.

Royals 4, Indians 2: At Kansas City, Mo., David DeJesus homered and Kyle Davies pitched five strong innings just hours after being called up from Triple-A, sparking a victory over Cleveland that snapped the Royals’ 12-game losing streak.

Rangers 8, Athletics 4: At Arlington, Texas, Josh Hamilton homered and drove in three runs and the Rangers moved over .500 with a victory over Oakland. Texas has won 22 of 34 games since starting the season 7-16.

Red Sox 6, Orioles 3: Dreadlocks are in fashion in the exclusive 500-home run club now that Manny Ramirez has added his name to the list of baseball’s most prolific sluggers. At Baltimore, Ramirez became the 24th player to reach the milestone, connecting in the seventh inning off Chad Bradford to help Boston beat the Orioles.

Yankees 7, Twins 6 (12): At Minneapolis, Bobby Abreu gave New York another big hit, breaking a 12th-inning tie with a one-out single in a victory over Minnesota. Juan Rincon gave up singles to Johnny Damon and slumping Derek Jeter before Abreu – who had three hits and four runs the night before – came through with his floater into shallow center field.

Angels 3, Blue Jays 2 (10): At Anaheim, Calif., Maicer Izturis set up the winning run with a bunt single, his fourth hit of the game, and pinch-hitter Juan Rivera delivered an RBI single in the 10th to give Los Angeles a victory over Toronto.
