Summer reading program begins

“Catch the Reading Bug,” the first of the Coeur d’Alene Public Library’s summer reading programs, will begin June 17 and run through July 25. The Summer Reading Carnival will be held July 30 at McEuen Field, outside the library.

Participants do not have to preregister for the free weekly programs. Children and teens can pick up a summer reading log at the library to keep track of their reading time, or the time they’ve been read to. For every three hours of reading tracked, participants will win a prize by presenting the log to staff in the children’s library.

Summer reading programs offer sessions for various age groups with age-appropriate stories, activities, experiments and crafts. Children younger than 6 visiting the library need to be supervised by an adult or a person who is at least 14. Children ages 6 to 9 should be accompanied by someone who is at least 14 who will remain in the building.

For more information and a schedule of weekly programs, call 769-2315, ext. 426 or visit www.cdalibrary.org.
