Shoppers, start your engines. The annual Liberty Lake Yard Sale will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The hugely popular event boasts hundreds of yard sales in the small city. A map of participating locations will be posted online at www.libertylakeyardsale.org at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Due to extreme traffic congestion, the city is restricting parking to only one side of the street on Settler, Homestead and Maxwell. Signs will be posted and the restriction will be strictly enforced. Liberty Lake police will use their bicycle patrol during the event. Spokane Valley Fire will have medics stationed in Pavillion Park with a “gator” type of ATV to allow faster response for medical emergencies in the heavy traffic.

Blanchard

Breakfast kicks off annual auction

The Blanchard Daze (LIVE!) Auction will be held Saturday at the Blanchard Community Center at 11 a.m.

More than 100 items will be available in the auction including gift certificates from the Coeur d’Alene Resort, Silverwood Theme Park and more.

An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will begin the day at 8 a.m.

Post Falls

Old Church hosting Art Day for kids

The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center at The Old Church, 405 William St. in Post Falls is hosting an Art Day for Kids on June 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Native American artists George Flett, Lori SiJohn, and George Hill will teach children, ages 12 to 15, to paint, sculpt and paper-cast in American Indian art.

Cost is $20 per student. Supplies and lunch will be provided. The workshop is limited to 45 students.

Musical event at Old Church

On June 29, the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center at The Old Church, 405 William St. in Post Falls, will present the Great American Song Book: The Music of Cole Porter and George and Ira Gershwin.

Director Reed McColm brought together the talents of Janean Jorgensen, Tamara Schupman, Pamela Brownlee, Kent Kimball and Sam Mazzola to perform popular Porter and Gershwin hits, such as “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” along with many more.

The evening will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $17 and may be reserved or purchased at the door.
