Don’t welcome lawbreakers

Re: “This is America, stop the raids,” June 10:

Raids like the one commented upon in the Postville, Iowa, meatpacking plant belie the inherent fact about illegals in this country.

Latinos per se have overwhelmed California, as well as other parts of the country, to wit: babies born in this country becoming instantaneous naturalized citizens; hospitals bankrupt due to non-refusal of treatment for illegals in emergency rooms; food stamps, welfare payments, libraries being underfunded due to moneys going to the following: food banks, uninsured motorists, free education, medical, dental, prisoners, etc. All this because of our bleeding-heart liberal policy of welcoming all to our shores. However, what is missing is that they are lawbreakers, illegals, etc.

Why is it that European immigrants learned the English language and waited until they became legal U.S. citizens? Alas! The world is not as we have known it. All one has to do is reflect upon 9/11. My oh my! Get real and accept the fact that if they were not lawbreakers, we would only welcome same.
