Region in brief: Athol Legion holding Father’s Day breakfast
To celebrate Father’s Day, dads get a free breakfast on Sunday at the Athol American Legion Auxiliary, served from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Moms, kids and wives, can eat for $5 each.
On June 28, a charity poker run for motorcycles and ATV’s will be held to benefit the Legion’s veterans and youth programs. The ride will begin at the Pastime Club in Athol, continue to the American Legion Post No. 55 in Bonners Ferry, past Popeye’s Lounge in Priest River, onto Curley’s in Hauser, past The Captain’s Wheel in Bayview, and finish at the Legion in Athol.
The ATV route has not yet been announced. Proceeds from the ATV poker run will benefit the Legion’s building fund.
Cost for either run is $15. The fee includes a barbecue dinner at 6 p.m. held at the Legion. Entertainment will be provided by George Bruner. Breakfast will be served for $5 from 8 to 10 p.m. on the morning of the run.
Registration is from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Legion on the morning of the event.
Other events at the Legion include dinner, open to the public, today at 6 p.m. for a $7 donation; Bingo on the first and third Saturday of each month at 1 p.m.; and breakfast, open to the public, on the fourth Saturday of each month, for $5.

Blanchard
Breakfast kicks off annual auction
The Blanchard Daze (LIVE!) Auction will be held today, at the Blanchard Community Center at 11 a.m.
More than 100 items will be available in the auction, including gift certificates from the Coeur d’Alene Resort and Silverwood Theme Park.
An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will begin the day at 8 a.m.

History walk Tuesday
The Post Falls History Walk will be Tuesday at 5 p.m. The Walk will begin at Post Falls City Hall and continue to locations where murals of early Post Falls residents and where they had made significant contributions to the community.
Ponderosa Elementary School student Maddy Baker thought of the figures that were created by artist Linda Fabrizius.
Old Church hosting Art Day for Kids
The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center at The Old Church, 405 N. William St. in Post Falls is hosting an Art Day for Kids on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Native American artists George Flett, Lori SiJohn, and George Hill will teach children, ages 12 to 15, to paint, sculpt and paper-cast in American Indian art.
Cost is $20 per student. Supplies and lunch will be provided. The workshop is limited to 45 students.

Bible school barbecue June 22
The Community Presbyterian Church vacation Bible school kick-off barbecue will be June 22 at 5 p.m., at the church, 417 N. Williams St. in Post Falls.
Registration papers will be available at the barbecue to sign-up all children entering grades one through five.
Bible School will run from June 23 to 27, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., which includes crafts, snacks and games. The theme is “Power Lab: Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power.”
Preschool will be offered at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1011 N. Compton St. in Post Falls.
Forms to register children, grades one through five, will be available at the barbecue.

Coeur d’Alene
Ironman closes library
The Coeur d’Alene Library at 702 E. Front Ave., will be closed June 22 due to street closures needed for the running of the Ironman Triathlon.
Front Avenue and Eighth Street are on tje route for the running portion of the race.
The library will resume regular hours on June 23 at 10 a.m.
Big Raffle open house Sunday
The 15th annual North Idaho College Really BIG Raffle open house will be Sunday and June 22, from noon to 4 p.m.
Tickets are $100 and will be sold at the $300,000 grand-prize custom home, at 2806 Marceille Drive in Coeur d’Alene. The home was built by NIC carpentry students.
Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the NIC Foundation, providing funding for scholarships and other student and NIC program needs.
