Swimsuit drive to help area kids

pinch Staff

Through June 27, families can bring new swimsuits to the Free Morning Movie Week at the Garland Theater.

The suits will be given to children who may not be able to afford properly-lined swimsuits, which are required to swim in any of the city’s public pools.

People can also drop off new swimsuits to the Spokane Parks Foundation office at 315 W. Mission, Spokane, or make a donation to Spokane Parks Foundation, P.O. Box 2021, Spokane, 99210. To donate online, visit www.spokaneparksfoundation.org.

Last year, 600 suits were distributed, up from 200 in 2006.

The Garland’s free summer film presentation will feature Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in “The Game Plan.” It begins at 9:30 a.m. and doors open at 9 a.m. The event is courtesy of Spokane City Credit Union and Spokane Parks Foundation.
