Skillingstad repeats honor
Shadle Park pitcher Samantha Skillingstad has repeated and Northport multipurpose player Tucker Guglielmino joins her as respective players of the year on the annual Washington Media spring All-State softball, baseball and soccer teams.
Skillingstad was again State 4A softball player of the year and first-team pitcher. Guglielmino was State 1B baseball player of the year and also first-team All-State as a pitcher and infielder.
They were among 17 area first-team selections in three sports – including Mead soccer midfielder Cameron Bushey and Cheney forward Mitch Weller – as voted on by Washington prep writers in an annual poll coordinated by the Tri-City Herald’s Rene Ferran.
Most came in baseball. Others are Central Valley’s Rusty Shellhorn in 4A; West Valley outfielder Bryan Peterson in 2A; pitcher-infielder Tyler Ford, outfielder Jacob Kitterman, both Freeman, and Lakeside infielder Kyle Stillar in 1A; Odessa pitcher-infielder Travis Todd, Northport infielder Dillon Dombrowski and Colton outfielder Nick Jacobs in 1B.
In softball, Shadle’s Allie Burger repeated as first-team 4A outfielder. Selkirk pitcher Heather Pope in 2B, Colton infielder Courtney Druffel, plus infielder Bridget Bower and outfielder Elisha Lopez, both Garfield-Palouse, in 1B are the others chosen.
