Roundabout bid accepted
The Spokane Valley City Council on Tuesday accepted a below-estimate bid for a complicated traffic improvement project that will give the city its first roundabout.
The project involves a large, rectangular area that includes freeway ramps and the intersections of Indiana and Mansfield avenues with Pines Road and the three-way intersection of Wilbur Road with Mansfield and Montgomery avenues – where the roundabout will be built.
Relieving congestion at the intersection of Pines Road and Indiana Avenue is the primary objective.
Inland Asphalt offered to do the work for $3,061,916, almost $282,692 less than the $3,344,608 city engineers had estimated.
Other bids: Knife River, $3,065,927; Haime Construction, $3,404,796; MDM Construction, $3,462,137; and Westway Construction, $3,605,517.
