In brief: PlantLand plans benefit gardens

The Spokesman-Review

PlantLand Nursery, Garden and Gift Center wants to watch its garden grow to support needy greater Spokane Valley residents.

The Veradale-area business is looking to add five vertical gardens to the seven that are on display at 15614 E. Sprague Ave.

PlantLand is searching for creative groups to build the gardens to be auctioned off to benefit Spokane Valley Partners, home to Spokane County’s largest food bank, clothing bank, emergency assistance programs and other services fo low-income or disadvantaged families in Spokane Valley.

PlantLand will supply 33 gallon garbage cans, bags of compost, and up to $40 in plants. The gardens will need to be completed and returned to PlantLand by Friday.

The gardens will be displayed for one week. A two-day silent auction will be held July 10, ending at 4 p.m. on July 12.

For more information, call PlantLand at 922-7618 or Spokane Valley Partners at 927-1153, ext. 13.
