Blazers stop Lakers

Brandon Roy returned after missing two games with a sprained ankle and had 20 points and 12 assists, leading the Portland Trail Blazers to a 119-111 victory Friday night over the Los Angeles Lakers in Portland.

The loss snapped the Lakers’ 10-game winning streak.

LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points for Portland, which also snapped the Lakers’ seven-game winning streak on the road.

Kobe Bryant had 33 points for the Lakers, who have lost five straight at the Rose Garden.

The Blazers also saw the return of 3-point specialist James Jones, who has been out since before the All-Star break with left knee soreness.

The Blazers are 23-12 when Jones plays and 8-14 when he doesn’t. Jones finished with eight points.

The Lakers led by as many as 10 points early, but the Blazers closed to 32-27 at the end of the first quarter. Joel Przybilla’s dunk pulled Portland to within 37-35, but after Przybilla fouled Bryant on the other end, the two exchanged words. Przybilla ended up with a technical.

Mavericks 115, Kings 106: At Dallas, Jason Kidd scored a season-high 21 points and was an assist shy of a triple-double, leading the Mavericks past Sacramento.

Hornets 110, Jazz 98: At New Orleans, Chris Paul had 24 points and 16 assists and the Hornets got the victory over Utah.

Rockets 116, Grizzlies 95: At Houston, Tracy McGrady had 25 points and six assists and the Rockets beat Memphis to extend their winning streak to 14, the longest streak in the NBA this season.

Nuggets 110, Clippers 104: At Denver, Allen Iverson scored 38 points and Carmelo Anthony added 30 to lead the Nuggets past Los Angeles.

Cavaliers 92, Timberwolves 84: At Cleveland, LeBron James had 30 points and 13 assists to lead the Cavaliers to a victory over Minnesota.

Hawks 99, Knicks 93: At Atlanta, Mike Bibby set up a go-ahead, alley-oop dunk by Josh Smith with 1:12 left and the Hawks overcame a shaky start to the fourth quarter to beat New York.

Warriors 119, 76ers 97: At Oakland, Calif., Mickael Pietrus scored a season-high 23 points and Brandan Wright added 12 as Golden State routed Philadelphia.
