Wellpinit 54, NWC (Lacey) 46

The Redskins scored a shot at a trophy despite scoring only four points in the third quarter and committing 20 turnovers.

Cody Flett recorded a double-double for the Redskins as he tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds. Ryan Fox had the game-high for the Navigators with 17 points.

The Redskins scored 21 points in the second quarter and led by 14 at halftime, but could not buy a bucket in the third quarter. They managed only four points in the third frame and went scoreless for the first 5:05.

Northwest Christian took advantage in the third, scoring 12 points and shrinking the Redskins’ lead to 34-28. But Wellpinit wasted little time getting back on track in the fourth. The Redskins went on a 10-0 run to open the final quarter and never looked back.

Bear Creek 42, St. George’s 39

There were no late-game heroics this time for the Dragons. Riding high after sophomore Jordan Dickson’s 3-pointer won Thursday’s game against Life Christian Academy, St. George’s faltered from the field and was eliminated by the Grizzlies.

Jamie Meyer scored a game-high 17 points for Bear Creek, and the Grizzlies advance to face Wellpinit today to determine fifth and eighth place.

Dickson provided the scoring with 11 points to lead the Dragons (23-6), but did not receive much help from his teammates. St. George’s only managed to shoot 34.1 percent from the field and about 42 percent from the line. Henry Butler was held in check throughout the game and scored only nine points. He missed an opportunity to tie the game with less than 10 seconds remaining.

Leading by three, the Grizzlies were not able to close out the game with free throws. St. George’s hauled in a rebound and Butler brought the ball up the floor. He pulled up on the left side of the arc but had the ball stripped. The ball went out of bounds off Bear Creek, but time expired and St. George’s did not have an opportunity to get a shot off.

Wahkiakum 63, Lind-Ritzville 33

The Mules didn’t feel any negative effects from their tough loss Thursday against Toutle Lake as they started fast and took a 22-5 lead after one quarter.

The Mules began the game on an 8-0 run and never trailed. The Broncos struggled on offense, shooting 23.5 percent from the floor and attempting only three free throws. Sophomore Jamie Stevenson led the team in scoring with 13, but missed 17 shots.

The Mules, who have won a trophy each of the 12 times they’ve made it to state, will again play in a trophy game.

Darrington 52, La Conner 50 (OT)

Junior Mike Parris blocked two shots for the Loggers in the final 10 seconds of overtime to help hold off the Braves.

Senior Jason Lindeman had a chance for a game-winning three for the Braves at the buzzer but the shot went wide right.

Lindeman hit a game-tying short jumper at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime.

Darrington held the lead for most of the game only trailing by one point twice in the second half.

Parris, coming off a night when he was the only Logger in double figures, got some offensive help from junior teammate Cory Hoveskeland, who scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half and overtime.

The Braves won the rebounding battle 33-25.

NWC (Colbert) 57, Liberty Bell 42

The Crusaders used a 13-4 spurt to end the third quarter to pull away from the Mountain Lions for a semifinal victory.

After keeping the game close for the entire first half, the Mountain Lions couldn’t overcome the Crusaders’ tough defense. They scored only eight points in the third quarter and fell behind by as many as 16 points in the second half.

Junior Matt Zandbergen controlled the middle again for the Crusaders, putting up team highs in scoring, 19, and rebounding, eight.

Liberty Bell will take home a state trophy for the first time.

Gardner scored on a drive to the left with 2:42 remaining in the game, and again on a drive to the right with 2 minutes left to make the score 32-29.

The Ducks’ defense locked down on Chris Pynch and the Crusaders and Brandon Bartlett nailed three free throws down the stretch to seal a trip to the championship game.

Riverside Christian shot 11.8 percent from the field in the second half, compared to the Ducks’ 46.7 percent.
