Crab Festival definitely see-worthy

Christianne Sharman The Spokesman-Review

I think my family already held this event.

Over the holidays, my Uncle Don – who never met a Costco deal he didn’t like – bought an entire case of crab and we merrily went to town on it.

But Uncle Don must have left at least a little crab in the sea, because the Oregon towns of Astoria and Warrenton feel confident enough to throw their 26th annual Crab and Seafood Festival, April 25 to 27.

And they’re doing us one better with arts and crafts from more than 200 regional artisans. You probably wouldn’t want anything my family macraméd.

On the other hand, we know how to procure beer, and the festival is on the job, too, with a beer garden along with selections from more than 50 wineries in the vicinity.

A traditional crab dinner featuring fresh-caught Dungeness tops things off each evening.

Festival admission for adults – which doesn’t include the dinner – runs $8 on Friday, $10 on
