Rookie Corey Crawford sparks Blackhawks
Rookie Corey Crawford stopped 19 shots to earn his first NHL win and shutout in his first start this season, and the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 on Wednesday night in Chicago.
Dustin Byfuglien and Cam Barker each had power-play goals and an assist, and Patrick Sharp also scored for the Blackhawks, who won their third straight and ended Anaheim’s six-game winning streak.
Crawford made just his second career start in his fifth NHL appearance.

Red Wings 4, Blues 1: At Detroit, Pavel Datsyuk scored twice to lift the Red Wings to a win over St. Louis, NHL-leading Detroit’s second straight win after a 1-8-2 stretch.
Capitals 3, Sabres 1: At Buffalo, N.Y., Alexander Ovechkin scored twice, including his NHL-leading 54th goal, to lead Washington to a victory over the Sabres.
Hurricanes 6, Thrashers 3: At Atlanta, Eric Staal scored two goals and added an assist to lead Carolina over the Thrashers.
Sharks 3, Senators 2 (OT): At San Jose, Calif., Patrick Marleau scored his second goal of the game 3 minutes, 5 seconds into overtime to lead the Sharks to a victory over Ottawa.
It was San Jose’s seventh straight win.

Dave Zenobi, the Florida Panthers’ trainer who helped save right wing Richard Zednik’s life, will be honored tonight in Sunrise, Fla., for his efforts. Zenobi will receive the ADT Good Sport Award. … The Panthers suspended left wing Chad Kilger without pay, only a few days after obtaining him in a trade from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Kilger asked Florida for a leave of absence, which was granted, but he was expected to return by now.
