Nelson runs to represent rural residents
Neighborhood activist Jai Nelson is running for Kootenai County Commission, saying rural residents need representation.
Nelson, who lives next to the Club at Black Rock golf retreat, is a founder of the Coalition for Positive Rural Impact at Rockford Bay and Loffs Bay and has fought to reduce the amount of water pumped from Lake Coeur d’Alene and to preserve farmland and open space.
Nelson will face Chairman Rick Currie and former Coeur d’Alene police Chief Tom Cronin in May’s GOP primary. Democrat Steve Caires, Lakes Middle School vice principal, will face the winner in November.
