Roy, Blazers rally in fourth
Brandon Roy continues to haunt the Minnesota Timberwolves and keep Portland’s dimming playoff hopes alive.
Roy had 27 points and nine assists, playing biggest during a game-deciding 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to lift Portland to a 103-96 victory Tuesday night.
Roy struggled with his shot for the first three quarters, but got to the basket at will in the fourth to rally the Blazers. LaMarcus Aldridge added 20 points and James Jones had 13 off the bench for Portland.
Wizards 105, Bucks 97: At Washington, Antawn Jamison scored 23 points, rookie Nick Young had a career-high 22, and the Wizards rallied in the fourth quarter for a win over Milwaukee.
The Wizards sliced and diced through the Bucks’ defense to shoot 50 percent with 66 points in the paint.
Bulls 108, Jazz 96: At Chicago, Drew Gooden tied a season high with 24 points, Ben Gordon added 19, and the Bulls beat Utah.
Gordon hit several key 3-pointers, including two late in the third and one midway through the fourth after the Jazz pulled within 10. That was enough to offset strong performances by Utah’s Mehmet Okur (22 points, 18 rebounds) and Deron Williams (20 points, 10 assists).
Suns 132, Grizzlies 111: At Phoenix, Amare Stoudemire scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in 30 minutes, and the Suns beat Memphis for the eighth time in a row.
Phoenix, which shot 60 percent, led by as many as 32 in the first half and 39 in the second.
Lakers 117, Raptors 108: At Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant scored 10 of his 34 points in the final 81/2 minutes, Lamar Odom added 20 points and nine rebounds, and the Lakers beat Toronto to regain the top spot in the Western Conference.
Bryant also had seven rebounds and seven assists.
