Libraries getting software updates
COEUR d’ALENE – An upgrade of the software used to track circulation services and computer catalogs for the libraries in the Cooperative Information Network will affect some library operations in North Idaho and Eastern Washington Tuesday through next Thursday.
The Washington Information Network that manages the CIN computer network through a network server at Gonzaga University will upgrade the Voyager software used by the libraries to check items in and out, arrange for holds, and to manage patron records and requests.
During three days the libraries’ computer catalogs will not be available online or at library computers. During the software upgrade patrons will be able to check out items, but will not be able to place holds or arrange for the delivery of materials from other libraries.
The upgrade will not affect Interlibrary Loan requests submitted by phone or in person.
Libraries affected by the upgrade in Idaho and Washington include Athol Library, Coeur d’Alene Public Library, Calispel Valley Library, DeArmond Consumer Health Library, Harrison Library, Hayden Library, Ione Library, Kellogg Public Library, Metaline Library, Mullan Library, Newport Library, Osburn Public Library, Pinehurst-Kingston, Plummer Public Library, Post Falls Public Library, Rathdrum Library, Silver Hills Library, Spirit Lake Library, St. Maries Public Library, Wallace High School and Wallace Public Library.
The libraries of the Cooperative Information Network share a computer catalog, circulation services and a common library card in order to provide patrons in North Idaho and Eastern Washington with better and more convenient access to library services and materials.
The shared catalog for CIN can be accessed from home computers at http://cin.wash-id.net or through any of the Web sites for the CIN member libraries.
