Zetterberg carries Red Wings
Henrik Zetterberg scored three goals in the third period to lift the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night in Detroit.
It was Zetterberg’s third career hat trick.
Zetterberg, who has 39 goals, tied the game at 1, 6:43 into the third period. His second goal came on the power play with 1:54 left and he completed his hat trick with an empty-netter at 1:19.
Rangers 2, Devils 1 (SO): At Newark, N.J., Chris Drury scored the tying goal with 4:46 left in regulation, and Nigel Dawes beat Martin Brodeur in the shootout to give New York a victory over New Jersey.
Hurricanes 5, Thrashers 3: At Atlanta, Eric Staal scored his 35th goal and Sergei Samsonov added a goal and an assist to lead Carolina over the Thrashers.
Sabres 7, Lightning 4: At Buffalo, N.Y., Thomas Vanek and Jochen Hecht scored twice during the Sabres’ six-goal third period as Buffalo rallied past Tampa Bay. The Sabres scored six times on their final 10 shots to overcome a 4-1 deficit.
Ducks 2, Stars 1: At Dallas, Todd Bertuzzi’s power-play goal with 27.2 seconds left broke a tie, and Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 20 shots to send Anaheim over the Stars.
Blackhawks 5, Capitals 0: At Chicago, Nikolai Khabibulin made 25 saves for his second shutout this season as the Blackhawks topped Washington.
Sharks 4, Wild 3 (SO): At San Jose, Calif., Jeremy Roenick scored his 507th career goal and added the decisive shootout score as the Sharks clinched a playoff berth with a win over Minnesota.

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Teppo Numminen has been cleared to rejoin the team six months after having open heart surgery. Numminen will practice with the Sabres today although he hasn’t been cleared to play in a game. … New York Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro will miss the rest of the season because of hip surgery. … The new owners of the Nashville Predators are close to final approval on a revised lease agreement for their arena that has Nashville taxpayers helping subsidize the team.
