Dishman Baptist plans spring break Bible school

Even though it’s only spring, there are already plans for the first vacation Bible school of the year. Usually the domain of summer, Dishman Baptist Church is planning a spring break VBS that begins Monday.

The theme of the event is Outrigger Island. Children in pre-kindergarten through the sixth grade can attend and get a little taste of the tropics while they keep busy. It will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and extended care will be available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be served, and transportation can be arranged.

Call the church office at 926-0575 for more information. The church is at 515 N. Argonne Road.

Laugh out loud

Have you heard the one about the minister, the priest and the rabbi? You might not hear that particular joke this Sunday at Opportunity Christian Church, but then again you might.

The congregation will celebrate Holy Humor Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The sermon will be delivered by ventriloquist Michael Waldrip and his companion, Chester. There will be balloons and paper hats, and other special touches are planned.

The church is at 708 N. Pines Road.

Special worship

The Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road, will host a special combined worship service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

The service will feature a performance by the Mukogawa Women’s Choir. A potluck brunch will follow the service.

Those with last names beginning with the letters A through G are asked to bring a side dish or casserole, H through P bring a salad, and Q through Z bring a dessert. The church will provide ham and rolls.
