Take a ride on the 44

The Spokesman-Review

Because the car I drive is on loan for the weekend, I took the 44 bus to get to work. This evening (May 3), I’m still twirling over the letter to the editor from Mr. Dick Adams I read this morning.

Sir, the STA is not asking for an increase in the amount of money it receives every year from now on. The request is for the status quo. If anything, STA’s cut will dwindle, because it’s a sales tax. Food is exempt.

“A new shirt? Or dinner? Which of these?” Thank you, sir, for allowing me to disabuse you of your misapprehension.

Now I’d like to suggest you take a field trip. Board a bus, say the 44 (a good choice, since it’s a loop route and will give you a tour of the city), at the Plaza, and meet, or at least observe, the people your policy would impact the most.

What would you have them do? Your beef is with the administration, right? (The sins of the fathers.) Then get thyself in there and put in your input where it shines!

Remember, it’s me, and the people I rode with today, that this is about, not the STA.
