Beau Balmer had three hits and Matt Blankenship hit a home run as host Lewiston beat Lake City 5-4 to win the 5A Region 1 baseball championship. Chris Combo and Trent Bridges each had two hits for the Bengals. The Tigers (20-1) move on to state while Lake City (16-6) will play Post Falls (10-14) today at 4 p.m. for a second state berth.

Elsewhere, Cole Amendy drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh to push Post Falls past Coeur d’Alene (9-17) 5-4 in a loser-out game. Ty Cline hit the game’s only home run, a two-run shot, in the fourth inning for the Trojans.

“Travis Todd, Bryce Todd and Ryan King combined to throw a no-hitter as host Odessa defeated Curlew 19-0 in the District 7 1B playoffs. … The game followed a 6-1 Curlew win over Columbia (7-15) at Odessa as Jordan Wakefield struck out 13 and hit a triple. … Reid Ashley threw a complete-game two-hitter to lead Almira/Coulee-Hartline to a 5-1 win over Cusick (10-8) at Northport. … Tucker Guglielmino struck out 14 and hit two home runs as host Northport beat ACH 12-5. … Odessa (17-2) will play Northport (18-2) at University High School at noon Monday for the district championship. Curlew (12-9) will play ACH (14-5) in a winner-to-state game preceding the Odessa-Northport game.

Chase Plischke and Tanner Dixon combined for eight hits, three home runs and 10 RBIs as Northwest Christian beat Springdale (8-11) 25-9 in a District 7 2B playoff game at Davenport. … Zach Mishler went 2 for 4 with four RBIs as Reardan beat Selkirk (8-10) 14-4 at Republic. … In NWC’s second game, Tanner Chaffin went 2 for 4 with two RBIs as it beat host Davenport 17-10. … Mike Matson pitched a complete game, striking out 14 and had three RBIs as Reardan beat host Republic (10-7) 12-2. … NWC (9-12) will play St. George’s (16-2) in a winner-to-state game at 10 a.m. on Monday at Whitworth University. Reardan (10-7) will play Lind-Ritzville (13-6) in a winner-to-state game following the NWC-St. George’s game.

Boys soccer

Bryer Reynolds scored three second-half goals as host West Valley cruised to a 4-0 win over Medical Lake (8-9) in the District 7 2A playoffs. … Mitch Weller and Justin Hale each had two goals as host Cheney beat Pullman 6-1. … WV (12-7) will play Cheney (16-1) in the district championship at 4 p.m. Saturday at Whitworth University. Medical Lake (8-9) will play Pullman (15-4) in a winner-to-state game immediately following the WV-Cheney game.

Golf

Connor Moran of Lewis and Clark shot a 7-under-par 137 for a one-shot win in the District 8 4A tournament at MeadowWood golf course. The top nine individuals qualify for the state tournament. Garrett Howard of Ferris won a seven-hole playoff for the ninth and final spot to state.

“East Valley’s Ben Johnson was the only Greater Spokane League golfer to qualify for the boys State 3A tournament, finishing 10th in the regional tournament at Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland. North Central finished fifth as a team and EV finished seventh.

“Freeman’s Dylan Maine shot a 9-over 151 to win the District 7 1A tournament and help the Scotties boys take first place at Dominion Meadows and Sun Dance golf courses. The top 18 boys qualify for the regional tournament in Chelan starting Tuesday. Gracie Schory shot a 10-over 152 to take first place and helped the Chewelah girls win. The top eight girls qualify for the regional tournament.

“Lewiston’s Alyssa Nilsson (77) was the individual medalist and Coeur d’Alene took the team title at Idaho’s 5A Region 1 tournament at Bryden Canyon Golf Course. On the boys’ side, Tyler Johnson (71) of Coeur d’Alene finished first, but Lewiston (290) won the team title in a six-shot victory. The Vikings and the Bengals, both boys and girls, qualified as a team for the state tournament along with the top five individuals.

Tennis

Mt. Spokane’s Kellee Bates and Sauhanna Robertson defeated Rachel Duckett and Jade Charbonneau of East Valley to win the District 8 3A girls doubles championship in three sets at Mt. Spokane. The 4A and 3A districts had several matches postponed because of rain. The tourneys conclude today.
