Robbery suspect arrested
Police have arrested a man believed to be the robber who apologized as he stole cash at gunpoint from a convenience store clerk last month.
Jeffrey Pounds, 31, was arrested Tuesday night near Walla Walla, where he was staying with relatives, according to the Spokane Police Department. He was arrested on unrelated misdemeanor traffic warrants, police said, but is expected to be charged with armed robbery in connection with the April 22 holdup of the Zip Trip at 303 S. Altamont St.
Pounds was staying with relatives in Waitsburg, said Sgt. Joe Peterson of the Major Crimes Unit.
Also facing charges in connection with the robbery is Norman L. Wyckoff, 31, who police think supplied weapons to Pounds and drove the getaway car. Wyckoff was taken into custody during a search of a house at 4007 E. Fifth Ave. in Spokane.
Wyckoff was booked into the Spokane County Jail on two counts of first-degree robbery.
Pounds remains in the Walla Walla County Jail.

Among the children’s programs funded were those that mentor children of prisoners, provide homework assistance and tutoring and teach children about nutrition and physical fitness.
Programs that help women that received funding included those that provide vaccinations that lower the risk of cervical cancer, provide mammograms and osteoporosis screenings, and provide emergency formula and diapers for low-income mothers.
