The Spokesman-Review

Kyle Conley homered twice and drove in four runs to lead the Washington Huskies to a 5-1 Pacific-10 Conference baseball victory over the Washington State Cougars Sunday afternoon at Husky Ballpark in Seattle.

Conley homered to left center field with David Bentrott aboard and two outs in the bottom of the first inning and added a second two-run blast – this one down the right field line – with two outs in the third inning to give the Huskies (31-17, 10-8) a 4-0 lead.

Bradley Boyer homered to right field leading off the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 5-0.

The Cougars (27-22, 6-12) scored their lone run in the fifth inning. Michael Weber fouled out to right field with the bases loaded and one out. Alex Burg, who had walked to reach, tagged and scored to make it 5-1.

But the Cougars would get no closer.

Nick Haughian (6-4) went the distance for the Huskies, giving up four hits and striking out 11 with three walks.

Chad Arnold (2-5) gave up five runs on five hits in three innings to take the loss for Washington State.
