Jim Murphy ripped a two-out two-run double in the top of the 11th inning to send the Washington State Cougars to a 7-5 victory over the Gonzaga Bulldogs in non-conference baseball action on Tuesday night at Washington Trust Field.

Gonzaga jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning off WSU starter Connor Lambert, but the Bulldogs were shut out over the final 102/3 innings by six Cougars relievers.

Ross Humes (4-3) went the final three innings to pick up the win.

Cody Martin (4-1) took the loss for Gonzaga (28-22). He allowed two runs, but both were unearned.

Garry Kuykendall led off the 11th for WSU (28-22) and reached on a two-base error by center fielder Drew Heid. Kuykendall moved to third on a groundout by Shea Vucinich. With one out, Paul Gran walked to put runners at the corners and set the table for Murphy.

Murphy delivered with his second double of the game. The Cougars slugger drove in three runs in the game, moving him to seventh place on the school’s all-time career RBI list with 154.
