Phillies 5, Braves 4: At Philadelphia, Jayson Werth drove in four runs to lead Philadelphia over Atlanta. Chipper Jones went 3 for 4 for the Braves, raising his major league-leading average to .415.

Mets 6, Nationals 3: At New York, Ryan Church drove in four runs while John Maine pitched six sharp innings to lead the Mets over Washington. Maine retired 11 of the last 12 batters he faced.

Reds 5, Marlins 3: At Cincinnati, Edinson Volquez pitched six effective innings, Joey Votto homered and the Reds beat Florida. Florida has lost two straight after winning seven in a row.

Padres 4, Cubs 3: At Chicago, Khalil Greene hit a three-run homer to help Shawn Estes earn his first win since 2005 and San Diego beat the Cubs.

Brewers 5, Dodgers 3: At Milwaukee, Ryan Braun delivered another big hit and Eric Gagne made a bid to reclaim his job as the Brewers’ closer in a victory over Los Angeles. Gagne earned his 10th save.

Pirates 8, Cardinals 4 (10): At St. Louis, Ronny Paulino drove in the go-ahead run in a four-run 10th to lead Pittsburgh over the Cardinals. Albert Pujols extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Diamondbacks 8, Rockies 4: At Phoenix, Stephen Drew hit a three-run homer and Randy Johnson got his 287th win as Arizona beat Colorado. Arizona hammered Colorado starter Jeff Francis (0-4), a 17-game winner a year ago.

Giants 4, Astros 2: At San Francisco, Matt Cain hit a solo home run and earned his first victory in his past three starts as the Giants beat Houston. It was Cain’s fourth career homer and second this year.
