North Pines Middle School will celebrate its 60th anniversary Thursday with student displays and musical performances. Refreshments will be served.

Former teachers and alumni are welcome. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. at the school, N. Pines Road. For more information, call 228-5020.

Museum opens America at War exhibit

America at War exhibit explores the wars America has fought through artifacts and photographs at the Spokane Valley Heritage Museum, 12114 E. Sprague Ave.

The museum is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays noon to 5 p.m. The exhibit runs through June 15.

Admission is $5 adults, $4 seniors and $3 age 18 and younger.

SPOKANE VALLEY

Offices closed for holiday, meeting canceled

Spokane Valley City Hall and Spokane County Library District branches will be closed Monday for Memorial Day.

Regular hours will resume Tuesday, but that night’s City Council meeting has been canceled.

MIRABEAU PARK

New speed limit on Mirabeau Parkway

A new 25 mph speed limit took effect Wednesday on a half-mile section of Mirabeau Parkway.

The City Council reduced the speed limit in the vicinity of Mirabeau Park from 35 mph to improve safety at two crosswalks that serve the park and the Centennial Trail.

LIBERTY LAKE

Liberty Lake spring cleanup planned

The city of Liberty Lake and the Liberty Lake Sewer and Water District are teaming up for the annual Spring Clean-Up next Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Residents may bring one truckload of yard waste to the STA Park and Ride lot at Mission and Meadowwood for free disposal. No large appliances or hazardous materials will be accepted.

Residents must have a voucher, which are available in the May Liberty Link newsletter or at City Hall, 22710 E. Country Vista Drive.
